The Department is pleased to welcome back advanced PhD Candidate Jason Mientkiewicz from his Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation fellowship, which took him to Poland. Based primarily in archives and libraries in Łódź and Warsaw, Jason developed a dissertation chapter on Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński, two artists active in the Suprematist artist collective UNOVIS who left Soviet Russia to work, teach and curate in Poland. Jason is the recipient of the 2024–25 Carlson-Cowart Fellowship at the Baltimore Museum of Art, where he will be working in the Department of Prints, Drawings & Photographs.
