PhD Bianca Hand joins UC, Davis faculty

We are thrilled to announce that Bianca Hand, who earned her PhD in summer 2024, has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis in their Department of Classics.

Bianca has been an outstanding member of our academic community, contributing significantly to both scholarship and teaching. Her dissertation, “The Relentless Pursuit of Difference: The Subversive Role of Alterity in the Reliefs and Architecture of Sargon II’s (721 – 705 BCE) Royal Palace at Khorsabad,” was recognized by her committee for its originality and depth.

At UC Davis, Bianca will continue her groundbreaking research and bring her expertise in Mesopotamian and Eastern Mediterranean art and archaeology to a broader audience. This position is a testament to Bianca’s dedication, hard work, and the high regard in which she is held by peers and mentors.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Bianca on this remarkable achievement. We are confident that she will continue to excel and inspire in her new role, and we look forward to witnessing her future contributions to the field.
