Doctoral student awarded grant by Gerda Henkel Stiftung

Rachel Young, a graduate student in the department, was awarded a PhD grant through the Gerda Henkel Stiftung to support research and travel for her dissertation, titled “Picturing Medium: Contours of the Italian Reproductive Print c. 1565-1636.” The project is the first focused history of this genre of image in Italy. It draws on media theory and technical art history to excavate the intermedial dialogue and cultural impact of reproductive prints in the decades around the turn of the sixteenth century.
